Nguyen Quan

born in 1948, in Vinh Phu, north Vietnam

Besides his practice as an artist, Nguyen Quan possesses a cultured intelligence that made him a renowned art critic in Asia. He was a professor at the Fine Arts Academy of Hanoi between 1978 and 1984, and chief editor of the Fine Arts journal from 1986 to 1989. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Vietnam, as well as in Brussels, Paris, Geneva, Hong Kong, Singapore and Miami. Nguyen is considered one of the most important artists of his generation. His work constantly evolves and is defined by its qualities of abundance and originality, depicting his unique vision of a world characterized by deep despair and incompleteness.
